Roving Internet History:

In January of 2002, I bought my first portable internet system in Quartzsite, Arizona. It was a DirecWay 4000 mounted on a plywood board. Every time I set it up, my back was sore for 2 days from all the bending-over. There were other things that were difficult about the setup. One of the worst was the way the polarization adjustment walked from side to side when I wanted it to turn. So I started dreaming up ways to make it all better. I came up with my Bushing kit to fix the DirecWay polarizer in August of 2002. There are hundreds of those in use today.

Then I started shopping for tripods. I bought a couple before I found one that I felt was appropriate for the job (the CST/Berger 60ALW30). I saw several people who had mounted a piece of pipe on top of a surveyor's tripod, but I didn't like that. The weight of the dish was off-center. It was an accident waiting to happen.

So in November of 2002, I had the first offset adapter fabricated - again, in Quartzsite. That design has progressed, but it still uses the same basic design today that it did then - except now, the mast is longer to accommodate the lower elevation settings needed in other parts of the continent. This basic design has become the standard and is now manufactured by several companies. It was even used by StarBand for their now defunct Manual-Flyer program. It is gratifying to see how well the design has been accepted.

These days, we offer mast adapters in various styles for various-sized dishes and budgets. Our best adapters are welded from high quality aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum.

Today we continue to innovate and we now sell a variety of parts for StarBand and HughesNet manual portable systems. If there's something you need and you can't find it, give us a call. If we don't know where to get it, maybe we can have it built! Your satisfaction with our products is always 100% guaranteed.
